Quick Ideas for Using the Video:
- Use the video as part of a flipped learning activity focused on STEAM. Have students view the video on their own. Discuss it the next day as a lead into the STEAM aspects of glass making. Investigate the STEAM related aspects to glass making–what are some of the chemical processes that happen when glass is molten, color is added, and the shape is formed?
- Write an opinion on what is considered art, and why. Ask students to provide clear examples and focus concepts such as color, form, concepts, etc. rather than ‘I like it’ statements.
- Have students respond to the artwork. What do they think of the subject matter? What do they like about the colors, style, etc.? Would they be interested in creating artwork like this? Why or why not?
*Profile videos use a first-person/first-hand approach to highlight interesting people doing interesting things in the area of study.
