“Alien Rock”

Showcase your students’ creativity with this cross-curricular art competition.  In class, teachers will share the third movement of Florence Price’s Symphony No. 1 in E minor with students in grades K–6.  Students will create drawings or paintings inspired by the music.  Finalists will be honored at an awards ceremony and have their artwork featured in a traveling exhibit.

Picture the Music is aligned with both Missouri and Illinois learning standards and integrates music and visual art while developing student listening skills and promoting socio-emotional development.
