Description: Teachers are often compared to superheroes for a variety of reasons. They are smart. They are flexible. They respond to students’ needs with lightning speed. While this comparison can be problematic, it seems fitting as thousands of art teachers rallied and supported one another for the good of students during the time of COVID-19. In this humanizing address, Dr. Ackerman shares her leadership journey before and during the pandemic in an effort to inspire others to rise and claim their true superhero status. Along the way, she offers examples of students and educators cultivating THEIR superpowers.
Presentation Type: Best Practice Lecture, All Art Educators
